A new fixture should be a simple upgrade. It becomes a problem when the old shutoff valve will not close, the drain does not line up, or the supply lines are decades old. Summit Plumbing installs fixtures you have already bought or ones we supply, and we handle the parts around them that turn a quick swap into a leak. That means new angle stops if the old ones are seized, new braided supply lines, a proper wax ring or waxless seal on toilets, and a pressure balanced valve on new showers as code requires. Fixture installation pricing
Most fixture installs are flat rate and we can quote them before we arrive. A standard toilet install with a new supply line and seal starts from $225 when you supply the toilet. Faucets, disposals, and sinks are quoted the same way. Prices go up when a shutoff valve has to be replaced, a drain has to be moved, or a shower valve is being replaced inside a tiled wall. If we supply the fixture, the quote lists the fixture and labor separately so you can compare with buying it yourself.
Fixtures and Boise water
Hard water is the main reason fixtures wear out early here. Calcium builds up inside faucet cartridges, on aerators, and in the small ports of a shower valve, and it is why a faucet that worked fine for five years starts dripping and sticking. When you choose a new fixture, ceramic disc cartridges and simple aerators hold up better than fine spray heads and touch controls. Older homes in the North End and on the Bench often have non standard rough in dimensions and shutoff valves that have not been turned in decades, so we plan for that. Newer homes in Meridian are easier but often came with builder grade fixtures that owners want to upgrade. The same goes for Kuna.
Questions we get about this
Can I buy the fixture myself and have you install it?
Yes. Many customers do. Send us the model number or a photo before the visit so we can confirm it fits your rough in and bring any adapters. We warranty our labor either way, and the fixture warranty comes from the manufacturer.
Do you install fixtures bought online?
Yes, as long as the fixture is a complete unit made for a residential installation. We have seen online kits arrive missing parts, so we check the box with you before removing the old fixture.
Why does my new faucet have low pressure?
Usually debris from the old lines has clogged the new aerator or cartridge, or the old shutoff valves are partly closed by scale. Both are quick fixes, and we flush the lines before connecting a new faucet to avoid it.
Should I replace a toilet or repair it?
If the tank parts are worn, a rebuild kit is cheap and quick. If the bowl is cracked, the toilet rocks on a damaged flange, or it is an older high volume model, replacement usually makes more sense.
Can you replace a shower valve without removing tile?
Sometimes. If the existing valve has the same brand and body, a new cartridge and trim kit may be all it needs. A full valve swap usually needs access from behind or a small tile opening covered by a remodel plate.
Do you install water efficient fixtures?
Yes. Modern 1.28 gallon toilets and low flow faucets work well when installed correctly. We can also tell you which models handle hard water better so you are not replacing them again in a few years.
